At the beginning of 2003 I began treatment for invasive ductal carcinoma. After 6 months of chemo, 30 rounds of radiation, and five different surgeries I am considered NED, no evidence of disease. My particular cancer was much bigger than they originally thought and favorable for a reoccurrence. For the next 10 years I will be taking medications which help prevent a reoccurrence. One medication I only have to take for 2 years. It's considered a mini chemo drug. So well I thought things were done, I'm still fighting the effects of everything. I don't know from one day or another but I'm going to be able to do or not to I feel like I've aged at least 20 years overnight and find the fatigue to be overwhelming. Perhaps my biggest complaint is pain due to bone loss. With that said I'm so thankful to be here. Thankful I got to see my two eldest graduate, thankful for every baseball thankful for every family dinner and thankful for amazing sunsets.
