Emily’s Comfort Registry

by Emily

I was diagnosed in December 2023 with B-Cell ALL while I was pregnant. I delivered a healthy baby in between chemo rounds. Successfully completed induction and consolidation with chronic neutropenic fevers. I am now in maintenance which was expected to be an easier road, but proving to have challenges of its own. Now treatment has been changed to fit my body’s reactions to chemo & immunotherapy, lengthening the process. Experiencing 2 years and counting of chemo, I’m learning what is keeping me the most comfortable through chemo rounds, hospital stays, and in between. (Why is everything pink?: Vincristine, the chemo I’m currently on, is derived from the Madagascar Periwinkle. Which is pink! As both a plant and art nerd, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to assign this color to my chemo comfort items.) Migraine relief and skin care are a top priority of mine as migraines and irritated skin are some of my biggest discomforts with treatment (that can’t always be managed with meds). Followed by items to keep my temperature regulated going through fertility preservation with treatment & clothing that my port can be accessed comfortably with.
