I’m still fighting

by Leslie Gegel

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2023. I’ve been through chemo, mastectomy, radiation, and medication. I had a reconstruction and they found cancer cells in the skin they removed. I’m still fighting. I’m metastatic and now getting an antibody drug conjugate and with that comes hair loss. I’ll be on the conjugate infusion indefinitely. I got a synthetic wig, but I’d really like something nicer and more natural since my hair won’t be coming back as long as I’m getting the infusion. I just finished getting a divorce in December 2024 after negotiating for a year. We were married only 2 years not counting the year of getting the divorce. I’m doing a lot of this on my own now. I do have some help from a few great organizations and friends.
